3 - The Loft - Stow - v2

The Loft

The Building is over 400 years old and at some point it was a bakery and a French travel agent (hence the it being renamed France house). The Loft and the apartment below were created around 2000 and as the building is listed, great care was taken to preserve its charm.

Hideaway Front outside

Hideaway Cottage

Hideaway Cottage was originally named after the nearby River Windrush. It has in its past life been a bookmakers, a boot shop, and has also been linked to Collett’s Garage.  During the late 1970’s the house was converted into two cottages and still remains that way today with a rather unique set up which suits many a Cotswolds property.

When I discovered the cottage for sale in late 2021, it was a very much loved holiday rental cottage but was in need of a considerable refurbish.  As part of the update we decided to extend the bathroom so that guests could have both a bath and shower and to give the cottage a new name befitting of its new look.

After a vote with the social media followers of both Unique Cotswold Cottages and Discover The Cotswolds, the winning name was chosen - Hideaway Cottage!  This name feels very apt, as the access to the back gate and private garden is hidden away behind the nearby Land Rover garage.

As with all of our cottages, Hideaway has been refurbished with love and the highest quality fixtures and fittings for your comfort, the majority of which has been locally sourced.  We can’t wait for you to enjoy it!

Little+Gem+Cottage, Bourton-on-the-Water

Little Gem Cottage

Little Gem Cottage is over 200 years old. It was a garage for many years but then became a cottage that belonged to the neighbouring house. We are delighted to be able to bring it back to its former glory as a cottage.

Honeypot terrace

Honey Pot

Honey Pot is built on land originally owned by the Noel Arms which was built in the 16th century when it was called the George Inn.  It is still here offering a selection of indoor and outdoor drinks and food.  Chipping Campden itself is steeped in history and is known for its beautiful high street and long line of terraced properties.  I feel absolutely thrilled to be able to add Honey Pot to the collection of Unique Cotswold Cottages.

The Bolt Hole

The Bolt Hole

The Bolt hole has been a home for a number of years and the building is over 150 years old. It spent many years as a butchers and then became a florist. It was converted into a residential home over 15 years ago. The Bolt Hole is in the conservation area of Winchcombe which is deemed an area of notable historic interest worthy of preservation.

NEW Stables Cottage

Stables Cottage sits on Sheep Street in the heart of Stow-on-the-Wold, a town shaped by centuries of wool trade and tradition. The street name reflects its past as a route for driving sheep into the nearby Market Square, which became a major hub for wool fairs from the 15th century onwards.

The narrow lane beside the cottage once helped control and count sheep heading to market, while Windrush Court, where the cottage stands, lay at the centre of these historic gatherings.

True to its name, Stables Cottage was originally part of the stables serving the building now occupied by the Pharmacy on the Market Square. Positioned to the rear and within the same plot, the cottage sheltered horses and carts during the town’s commercial heyday.

It also shares the Grade II listing of the 18th-century Pharmacy building, which includes 17th- and 19th-century features like a rear pigeon loft. As a curtilage structure, Stables Cottage preserves a tangible link to Stow’s layered history, echoing the days of wool trading, horse-drawn carts, and lively market life.
